About Nicole Moulton Black
Nicole Moulton Black was introduced to Pilates by a physiotherapist while seeking respite from continual lower limb injuries obtained through running, aerobics and high impact sports. Pilates quickly became part of her fitness regime.
However, it was during pregnancy and following the birth of her first daughter that the benefits of Pilates became more apparent - improved posture, core strength and spine mobility helped Nicole recover her pre-pregancy shape – and she noticed that regular practice helped alleviate the stress and demands of being a new mother.
‘I realised that not only had my body changed, but I was mentally stronger and more focused from my Pilates practise. My strengthened core and improved posture enabled me to enjoy other sports more and addressed so many of the concerns that new mums have – sore backs and jelly bellies at the top of the list!’
A growing interest in the philosophy as well as living the results prompted Nicole to train as a Pilates instructor with internationally recognised Polestar Pilates http://www.polestarpilates.com.
The Polestar curriculum, designed by physical therapist and Orthopedic Certified Specialist Brent Anderson, is based on a scientific foundation of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics & motor control, and integrates scientific research findings in the areas of orthopedics, sports medicine & movement science.
Nicole is fully insured and is also a qualified Pre and Post Natal Pilates instructor having trained with The US-based Centre for Women's Fitness. She has also completed Seated and Standing Pilates training for Seniors, and Pilates for Osteoporosis.
Nicole now teaches clients of all ages and abilities in venues in SW London, ranging from individuals who have never exercised before, to those recovering from injury, new mums, tri-athletes and endurance racers.
‘Pilates is a series of focused and controlled movements – it’s easy to ‘fake’ it or think that you’re moving correctly in a large gym class, but real results come from close monitoring and connection between teacher and student. My sessions are either private sessions or small group classes where we address individual issues and goals, or courses so students can develop and build upon their Pilates knowledge.’
Nicole’s passion for Pilates is evident in her personal teaching style and her aim is to inspire her clients and help them develop their practice dependent on their own personal goals.
